Knights of Columbus – National

This is the National Home Page for the Knights of Columbus.  The Knights was formed thanks to the efforts of Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Connecticut and some of his parishioners in 1882.  The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal benefit society and is  true to its founding principles of charity, unity and fraternity.

The California State Council is the governing body for the Knights of Columbus in the jurisdiction (state) of California. There are over 600 Councils in California with over 74,000 members. The State Deputy is the chief executive officer for the State Council.

What we do

Father McGivney’s Vision

The Knights’ founder recognized that evangelization and charitable witness begin in the parish and depend on the laity. An article written by Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson on July 1, 2013.

What we do

From the moment of our founding in 1882, charity has been the first principle of the Knights of Columbus. We are Catholic men of faith and men of charitable action.

Generations of Brotherhood

For many Knights, service to the Church and the Order is a family tradition uniting fathers, sons and grandsons.

Why You Should Become a Knight

A clear call to join the Knights of Columbus.

Columbia is the monthly magazine of the Knights of Columbus, the world’s largest Catholic family fraternal service organization. The magazine’s editorial content is geared toward a general Catholic audience, though readership consists mainly of the nearly 2 million members of the Knights of Columbus and their families in the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Poland, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Cuba, Guatemala, Guam, Saipan, Lithuania, Ukraine, and South Korea.

Published monthly, Knightline (which beginning in 2010 was combined with Program Supplement) is an important resource for local K of C leaders. The newsletter features news from the Supreme Council office, actions of the Order’s Board of Directors, a column on Knights of Columbus insurance up-to-date program and membership growth events for the coming months that the council, assembly or circle can become involved with.
